I had the opportunity to stay at Old Caste Oia during my last trip to Santorini and here is what I loved about this hotel:
The hotel is located in Oia, directly below the Oia Castle. If you’re dreaming of the iconic Santorini view with white buildings perched on the caldera with Aegean Sea AND sunset views in Oia, this is it! The traditional cave style rooms have private heated jacuzzis or plunge pools that overlook the Aegean Sea. Just picture yourself with a glass of your favorite Santorini wine, sitting in your private jacuzzi watching the most beautiful sunset you’ve ever seen; then clapping and cheering with the rest of Oia because the sunset you just watched was that magical! Every morning, breakfast is served on your private terrace overlooking the Aegean Sea. The hotel provides a service that carries your luggage from the drop off point, down the very slick marble stairs and through the massive tourists crowds of Oia. I watched one man carry 3, 50lb suitcases on one shoulder. He was a modern day, Greek god!
There are many reasons why you should book this hotel, however, there are a couple of points to keep in mind when booking Old Castle Oia. I know I have the location listed as a pro but it can also be a con. It is a steep walk to get to this hotel and the steps can be slick. Keep this in mind! Additionally, this hotel is a true 4-star hotel. There is a difference in quality of amenities that are offered between a 4-star and 5-star hotels in Santorini; there is also a difference in price! In my opinion, it offers the best value for your money compared to other Santorini hotels with private pools and sunset views.
Andronis Arcadia:
